weeellll.. its a new rpg i got for my psp. i like it cause its graphics are very snes-ey & the game is very straightforward(to a certain extent). but the difficulty level of this game is not to be underestimated. have you ever played a rpg that requires you to battle 30plus times to level up once.?! & its the level 8, 9 kind, not the level 90 kind of level up we are talking about. & each battle lasts about 5-10 mins & the amount of enemies is insane. & since its turnbased, the number of opponents is seriously important. like, i used loyd & the dwarf to fight against 1 normal blue uglies, 2 green archers, 3 of those red brute heads & 2 shamans. SERIOUSLY.?! i was like, level 10.!!! & fresh out from the "safezone". so imagine, each ugly(they are quite cute actually.) gives you damage of 20-70, & multiply it by the number of enemies, which is 8. so the total amount of damage you get each turn is like, 8x50= 400.!!! & my level 10 life is pathetically low, about 180ish. even if i party with ylenne or the dwarf, they are kind of useless at times. sigh.
i almost gave up at the forest when i met akra but oh wells. see how it goes. the strategy with shamans is to never place your characters together since the area magic can deal 70++ damage to them in a single turn. plasma fire storms damages all the opponents in a 25grid area i think. & its a 50++damage kind. D: sucks eh.
always kill the nastiest ones first. the damage suffered each turn would then be lesser. by alot. -.- i hate those fricking archers. anyway. did i mention that this game is so sad that you are by default a swordsman.?! hahahaha. why am i even playing ittt. into 6 hours of gameplay & i am only level 15.
the exp system is totally screwed up. you have total party exp, your own exp & bonus exp(for the best fighter of the battle, which is about 11exp). so the exp you get for 6 people is roughly 300, which is 50 each. if you are lucky. most of the time you only get a measly 30exp even after battling a boss which drains out like most of your herbs supply. & you need about 900exp+/- to advance from level 10 to 11. how crazy is that.?! D: worse is money is hard to come by & a herb that restores your health by 50HP is about 50G. & you get roughly 100G per battle. duh the battle takes up alot more exp. so the only way is to find inns. but the inns are so few you might need to battle for a loooooong time to death & several bosses before you can get to an inn. D: & nooo, there is no flat rate unlike other games. the inn in miadra charges 20G wheres the one where ylenne came from costs a fricking 300G. & it has the same effects, max your HP & MP. life surviving the dungeons spiel is tough shit man. D:
sigh. even though it is like that, i am still playing it. sigh.
& i just read the review on gamespot for this game. goddddd. i should have read it before starting. D: it would have forewarned me of everything i am grudging about now. ahahahaha. oh wells. at least they said it would only require 15hour gameplay to end. thats just another 9hours.
"Astonishia Story is the equivalent of a cheap novel you might pick up in an airport gift shop. It's a light, easy way to burn some time, but isn't substantial enough to sustain interest for very long. It certainly isn't a game you'll want to go too far out of your way to play, but if you're starved for a role-playing game on the PSP, Astonishia Story will provide some temporary satisfaction." -gamespot
i want a new rpg game. they are quite fun afterall. i feel smarter after the fights. hahahaha.
